Harvey is a story about the eccentric Elwood P. Dowd who has an “imaginary” friend. His friend is a six and a half foot tall white rabbit that no one but him seems to be able to see. Veta, Elwood's sister, lives with him along with her daughter Myrtle May. Veta wants Myrtle May to get married, but it’s not easy meeting eligible men when your uncle keeps introducing them to “Harvey”. So Veta decides to have Elwood committed to Chumley’s Rest Sanitarium. This plan works well until other forces seem to intervene and make the simple commitment a far more challenging and comic event.
