Music Appreciation

Designed to help the musician and non-musician understand, appreciate and enjoy music. Incorporating music theory, listening, history, and analysis, this course emphasizes the basic elements in music, musical form, musical construction, musical literacy and performance.
Chorale
1/2 Unit
The chorale is intended to be a performance class for students who desire a serious ministry in music. A more advanced musical literacy is stressed, and discussions regarding Biblical principles are encouraged. The students present an hour-long program of music, scripture, and drama on a selected theme during their spring tour and provide special music for other events throughout the year.
Private Voice
1/4 Unit
Voice lessons stress fundamentals of tone production and basic musicianship, familiarity with sacred and secular music, and performance.
Private Piano
1/4 Unit
The beginning student is presented with basic notation and rhythm, exposure to classical themes and hymn tunes, and opportunities for performance. As the student progresses to the intermediate level, the exposure expands, and students are encouraged to use the skills in chapel, youth groups, and churches, as well as other performance platforms.
Instrumental
1/4 Unit
Private or class lesson instruction is offered for each standard orchestral instrument in the brass, string, and woodwind families.
