French I
1 Unit
Aims to awaken in the student an interest and knowledge of the French language - an acquisition of certain skills in speaking, reading, writing and understanding of French and a basic grammatical foundation in preparation for the next level.

French II
1 Unit
Continues the foundational work begun in French I. Stress is placed on verb tenses and written compositions. Conversation is stressed as the vocabulary of each student is expanded.

Spanish I
1 Unit
Designed to give the beginning student a basic foundation in the Spanish language. The course is comprised of a wide range of materials, with grammar being the central emphasis. By the end of the first year, students will have an understanding of basic sentence structure, a thorough view of the present tense (with an introduction to the past tense), and instruction in noun phrases and the various types of pronouns. Students will also learn appropriate vocabulary as well as Bible verses each week. The course will address pronunciation and listening, as well as geographical and cultural notes, with an exposure to world missions. Each week the students will have application exercises that will allow them to practice the language they are learning.

Spanish II
1 Unit
Students should cement what they have already learned and then build on that foundation in order to achieve a rudimentary working knowledge of the language. The course is comprised of a wide range of materials, with grammar being the central emphasis. The class begins with a review of first-year Spanish and then expands upon that foundation. A major emphasis of second year is the various verb tenses, both simple and complex. The students will also focus on some of the more intricate aspects of the language. Students will learn appropriate vocabulary as well as Bible verses each week. The course will address pronunciation and listening, as well as geographical and cultural notes, with an exposure to world missions. Each week the students will have application exercises that will allow them to practice the language they are learning. Many of the class hours will be taught in the target language.

Spanish III
1 Unit
Designed to be a practical course. After completing this course, the student should be able (in a rough way) to make his way around in a Spanish environment. The students will have a thorough and fast-paced review of the material they have learned so far, with the goal of mastering material that is uncertain. When the grammar review is completed, students will have units based on idioms, pronunciation, and history of Spanish-speaking countries. The students will also have themed units around which vocabulary, application exercises, and group conversations will be based. Students will have reading assignments that will build in difficulty until they are able to read a simple novel. There will be several projects that will consist of both written and oral reports on topics relating to the Spanish world. Students should expect a majority of the class hours to be taught in the Spanish language.
