Bible I
1 Unit
A survey course which is foundational to all other Bible courses. Designed to acquaint the new student with a working knowledge of New Testament truths. Special emphasis is given to the doctrine of salvation, the work and person of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Apostle Paul's ministry in the early church.
Bible II
1 Unit
Designed to give the student a panoramic view of the Old Testament period from creation to the time of Christ. Emphasis is given to the historical books, especially to the Law and the institution of the sacrificial system. The books of poetry and prophecy are discussed briefly in relation to their appropriate historical settings.
Bible III
1 Unit
Designed to acquaint the student with the basic fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith, instilling in the student the conviction that the Bible is the verbally-inspired Word of God and the only safe standard for faith and practice. A brief study of cults is coupled with the study of doctrines in order to make comparisons and strengthen the student's own doctrinal position.
Bible IV
1 Unit
A course tailored to the shifting stage of current theological trends. The student is guided to an understanding of liberalism, fundamentalism, neo-evangelicalism, and the Charismatic movement. Patterns for Christian living and development of practical Christianity are emphasized.
Bible V
1/2 Unit
An elective in addition to the required Bible course that offers instruction in the basic principles of Bible study. Students will learn to use concordances, lexicons, Bible dictionaries, and other reference tools. Students will have the opportunity to put into practice what they learn through a verse by verse study of II Timothy and by developing a sermon (boys) or Bible lesson (girls) of their own and delivering it to the class. Throughout the course an emphasis will be made to show that the foundation of all Christian service is a life dedicated to the Lord with the goal to see each student realize that there is "joy in serving Jesus."
